Frequently Asked Questions
What ChartQuest is, how it uses AI, how your health information is handled, and how to work with us. We try to be clear about what is built today and what is still in development.
ChartQuest helps you bring your health information together, understand what it says, prepare better questions, and turn next steps into small quests.
It helps you work with your care team. It does not replace them.
Taking care of your health can feel like a journey. There are goals, questions, setbacks, and progress. ChartQuest uses quests, companions, places, and milestones to make that journey easier to follow.
It is not trying to make illness into a game or a competition. It is trying to make health information easier to understand and less lonely.
ChartQuest is for people who want help understanding and using their health information. It may help people with ongoing conditions, several medicines, home readings, preventive care needs, or records from more than one place.
ChartQuest can also work with healthcare organizations and community partners.
The companions are your support team in ChartQuest. The Archivist helps with your records. The Guardian walks with you on quests. The Signal Keeper helps you watch readings and patterns. The Navigator helps you find your way.
Each one has a role, and none of them ever judges you.
No. ChartQuest works alongside your patient portal. Your portal is still the place to get official records, messages, bills, and services from your healthcare organization.
ChartView is the simple record view inside ChartQuest. It lets you review your health information without the game layer, and you can use it to prepare selected information to show or share with a care provider.
It is part of your signed-in account, and it does not replace the official medical record kept by your healthcare organization.
No. ChartQuest is not meant to diagnose, prescribe, or tell you what treatment to choose.
It helps you understand your records, prepare questions, follow instructions from your care team, and keep track of next steps.
No. ChartQuest helps you take part in your care. It does not replace your doctor, nurse, pharmacist, therapist, or other care team members.
ChartQuest uses AI for limited tasks, such as explaining health terms in plain language. ChartQuest is designed so identifying details are removed before information is sent to AI services, and only the minimum necessary context is shared.
AI answers are checked against safety rules and are not diagnoses or treatment plans.
ChartQuest first looks for trusted health terms and reviewed explanations. When it needs AI, it shares only the general concept needed for the explanation, not your personal values or results.
ChartQuest may also point you to trusted sources, such as MedlinePlus.
ChartQuest is designed to help with learning, planning, record review, and following instructions you already received from your care team. It is not meant to diagnose, prescribe, choose treatment, or direct medical care.
Human Viable Labs evaluates intended use and applicable regulatory requirements as ChartQuest grows and new features are added.
Do not use ChartQuest for emergencies. Call local emergency services or seek urgent medical care right away.
ChartQuest is built around privacy, security, and user control. Your information is protected with access controls, and you choose what to share and when to share it.
The Privacy Policy explains the details, and the plain-language Data Use Policy walks through how your information moves, step by step. Washington residents also have a dedicated Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.
The AI does not receive your full medical record as-is. ChartQuest is designed to remove identifying details first and to send only the information needed for the task.
ChartQuest uses health information from sources you approve. This may include standards-based health record connections and other records you authorize. ChartQuest keeps track of where information came from.
